Description:

Refiners desiring to process resid feeds in the FCC have historically been faced with tradeoffs around FCC catalyst matrix materials. While active matrices can help convert the heavy molecules found in residual feedstocks, they have also tended to promote coke and gas formation, especially at high levels of contaminant metals. Engelhard has developed advanced matrix materials which can achieve deep bottoms conversion while at the same time passivating the deleterious effects of contaminant metals. These new matrix materials form the foundation for four new FCC catalyst and additive technologies which are introduced in this paper.
