AM-17-07 ISOALKYTM Technology: Next Generation Alkylate Gasoline Manufacturing Process Technology

Chevron has developed a next-generation alkylate gasoline manufacturing process, ISOALKY™ Technology, which has performance benefits (yield, product octane number, safety and environmental) over the conventional acid-based processes, while the economics (CAPEX and OPEX) are comparable to the conventional processes. The ISOALKY™ Catalyst is a non-volatile ionic liquid that operates efficiently via on-line regeneration. Chevron made the final investment decision to retrofit its ~5,000 BPD hydrofluoric acid plant with the ISOALKY Technology. Construction on the conversion project is scheduled to begin in 2017, with the ISOALKY Unit due for startup in 2020. ISOALKY Technology can be used for green-field plants or retrofit/expansion of existing alkylation units. Chevron has entered into an alliance with Honeywell UOP, proven experts in alkylation technology, to license this technology to the industry. UOP is the exclusive licensor of the ISOALKY Technology and for sales of related catalyst and materials.
