Description:

Under-reported breathing losses from heated tanks may have an impact on a facility’s current permit and operating expenses. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has increasingly begun targeting heated tanks in enforcement actions. State environmental agencies are also taking notice of unaccounted emissions from heated tanks, for example the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) is now engaged in their own study of emissions from heated tanks. With continued EPA enforcement actions on under-reported emissions from heated storage tanks, it is in the best interest of the industry to understand and review how to correctly estimate emissions from these tanks.
