Description:

Even with the widespread acceptance of APC in the process industry, close coordination of APC and Planning is still lacking. This panel discussion looks at the specific work processes and tools that are needed to facilitate the corporation between the two groups, in order to maximize the benefits. A case study will be presented for a successful implementation at a large oil refinery. Working out from this, the panel will be asked to comment and expand on the concepts introduced and to add experiences from their refineries and petrochemical plants. Highlight the need for both APC and Planning engineers to actively consult and pursue corporation with the other, in order to achieve plant-wide optimization. A couple of concrete cases in a large refinery to highlight where and how APC and Planning can work together to bring out the strength of both. The challenges and proposed process and techniques resonate throughout the petrochemical industry.
