Description: Over the past 30 years, ARA’s blast engineers have demonstrated expertise in calculating overpressures, material failures, progressive collapse, and other hazards caused by various blast loads (including both direct airblast and fragmentation), and in developing designs to mitigate these threats. Our state-of-the-art blast engineering analysis and design methods are further validated through extensive field-testing and re-creation of many blast loads at test sites throughout the United States. ARA has conducted literally thousands of large-scale explosive tests at multiple ARA-owned and operated test sites. Such capabilities provides un-paralleled first-hand experience in providing proven engineering solutions for building systems exposed to airblast and fragmentation effects. This first-hand experience has been applied to the hundreds of blast analyses and blast mitigation designs performed by ARA. These blast analyses and designs cover the full-spectrum of structures and locations, ranging from high-rise office towers, to small building components; and from structures on land, to below ground structures, and even to underwater structures. We have performed these services for military, government, and commercial organizations worldwide.
