The FCC Safety Workshops were kicked off in October 2023 in response to the Husky Superior event. The Workshops rotate around the country targeting cities with multiple refineries nearby. The Workshop’s take the Safety message to the operators.
Registration is free for AFPM Operating Company members. There is a nominal fee for nonmembers. If you are a non-member, unable to register, or have questions, please contact us at fccsafetyworkshop@afpm.org. Refiners are encouraged to send Trainers, Head Operators, Console Operators and any others associated with the FCC unit to the event. Multiple operators from each site are welcome. Repeat attendees are encouraged to share how they have improved their unit’s focus on safety following a workshop.
The FCC Process Safety Workshop is a one-day event that covers the FCC Process Safety Curriculum that has been developed by the FCC Committee. This curriculum was developed by industry as a result of several high-profile incidents.

The workshop will be a series of knowledge sharing and interactive sessions with the goal of each attendee taking back a list of actionable items they can bring back to their site to improve the safety of their FCC operations.

These documents are meant to share information on process safety practices in order to help improve process safety performance and awareness throughout industry. The goal is to capture and share knowledge that could be used by other companies or sites when developing new process safety practices or improving existing ones. The documents being shared have been used by an industry member, but this does not mean it should be used or that it will produce similar results at any other site. Rather, it is an option to consider when implementing or adjusting programs and practices at a site.
