As an industry and as a nation, we must keep ourselves informed about the many potentially devastating events that could change the way refiners and petrochemical manufacturers operate. The conference presents current topics of critical importance to assist attendees in keeping themselves up to date on security issues.
The Exhibition held as part of the conference gives attendees the opportunity to meet and talk with representatives from companies offering a variety of security services to the refining and petrochemical industries.
Consisting of three parts, the Monday and Wednesday afternoon programs are charged separately (see below).
Monday, March 3: The first event of the series is the full-day Security Seminar, “Successful Security Operations.”
This program will be hard-hitting and fast-paced, with presentations on The Role of the Integrator; Perimeter Protection; Access Control Systems; The Use of K-9s (live demonstration); Fencing & Gates; High Security Locks; Guard Force Management; IED Awareness & Search Procedures; and Interviews & Interrogations. Please note: This event is open to NPRA Members Only. Separate registration is required for this event.
Tuesday, March 4: The one and a half-day 2008 NPRA Security Conference begins Tuesday morning and concludes Wednesday at noon.
Leaders from government and industry will speak to us in general sessions and breakouts. Topics include The Homeland Security Public/Private Partnership; Maritime Security; Contingency Planning for Security During Labor Disputes; and the latest developments and requirements under CFATS and TWIC. Mr. Jay Tilden, Director of DOE’s Counterterrorism Division, will provide a targeted briefing for our industry. Please note: This event is open to NPRA Members Only. Separate registration is required for the 1 ½-day conference.
Wednesday, March 5 - Morning: The Security Conference concludes with the morning session.
This session will feature special presentations on Non-Lethal Interdiction, with live demonstrations by Pepperball and Taser; plus a DHS briefing on Industry Threats Analysis; a panel on Convergence of Physical & CyberSecurity Operations; and a panel discussion on Security Best Practices. Plus: Registrants for the 1 ½-day Security Conference can also stay for the CyberSecurity Workshop at no extra charge.
Wednesday, March 5 - Afternoon: Cyber Security Workshop
A hands on interactive workshop to discuss the latest issues in cyber security as it relates to IT and Process Control Systems in the industry. Attendees will review and discuss real-life case studies, best practices, educating the workforce on cyber security, the latest cyber security tools, and more! Please note: Registrants for the 1 ½-day Security Conference can also stay for the Cyber Security Workshop at no extra charge; otherwise, separate registration is required for this workshop. Cancellation and Other Policies:
By registering for this meeting you signify that you have read, understand, and agree to abide by NPRA's policies on fees, registration, spouse/guest registration, and cancellations.REGISTRATION POLICY: Those who are present at the site of an NPRA meeting and/or occupy a hotel room in the NPRA room block to conduct business with industry personnel gathered for that meeting are expected to register for that meeting and pay the registration fee, whether or not they attend a specific function.
FEE POLICY: Registration fees will be assessed in accordance with membership information currently on file with NPRA. If you have improperly indicated fees to be charged, the correct fees will be charged to your credit card.
SPOUSE/GUEST POLICY: A guest is a spouse/significant other, friend or an adult child (18 years old or older) who is not in an industry-related occupation. A co-worker, an associate or spouse who works within the industry may not use the Spouse/Guest registration category.
CANCELLATION POLICY: Registration substitution/cancellations may be made on-line or in writing and faxed to 202.835.0467 or e-mailed to SC@npra.org. No cancellations will be taken over the phone. Cancellations may be made by February 4, 2008 with no penalty. Cancellations done on-line or written cancellations postmarked, faxed, or emailed between February 5 and February 18, 2008 will receive a refund of fees, less a $50 processing fee. No refunds after February 18, 2008. Substitute conference registrations may be made in advance or on arrival with no penalty.
ENTERTAINMENT POLICY: We ask your cooperation in observing Association policy on activities held in conjunction with any NPRA meeting:
* Meetings or social activities should not be scheduled that take registrants away from NPRA programs and NPRA-sponsored activities;
* Any company sponsoring a function to which 25 or more people are invited should outline its plans for advance approval by NPRA. In general, such functions will be approved if they do not unduly take registrants away from NPRA-sponsored activities;
* All representatives of companies sponsoring hospitality activities are expected to register for the meeting;
* Hospitality suites are expected to close by 1:00 a.m.;
* Food, beverage and service personnel (bartenders, hostesses, etc.) must be obtained through the hotel catering department;
* Suite promotional activities are to avoid the use of elaborate entertainment, expensive door prizes, suite attendance solicitation by individuals who are not full-time employees of the sponsoring company, or other similar activities.
