The National Safety Conference features an overview of safety challenges and issues affecting refineries and petrochemical plants.
The Exhibition, held as part of the conference, gives attendees the opportunity to meet and talk with representatives of companies offering a variety of safety related services to the refining and petrochemical industries.
Tuesday, May 6: Joint NPRA/API Safety Workshop – OSHA’s Petroleum Refinery Process Safety Management National Emphasis Program (NEP)
On June 7, 2007, OSHA released their National Emphasis Program for inspecting petroleum refineries. There are 111 refineries in the United States, through this directive every refinery will be inspected, either through a VPP inspection or through the NEP. Through expert presentations and operating company panel discussions, this workshop will aim to answer the following questions for attendees:
• What is the current state of the program from OSHA’s point of view?
• How do you prepare for a NEP inspection?
• What is going to happen when OSHA arrives?
• Breaking new ground, is it making us better?

Wednesday, May 7: The 2-day National Safety Conference kicks off with two keynote speakers. Mr. Norm Phillips, President, Fuels from LyondellBasell Industries will give an Industry Update. Lt. Col. USAF Reserve John J. Nance, an internationally recognized air safety analyst and advocate, will share his experiences in a motivational address. This will be followed by a slate of industry speakers and workshops and exhibit hall hours you don't want to miss.
Thursday, May 8: The morning's general session will include a Chemical Safety Board Update, as well as lessons learned. Your final opportunity to visit the exhibits will be Thursday at lunch, followed by break out sessions.
The culmination of the meeting will be the Safety Awards Reception and Banquet from 6 - 9:30 pm. The event celebrates and honors the industry's excellent safety achievements. Be sure to purchase your tickets for this event when you register.
The Board of Certified Safety Professionals will grant CSP Continuance of Certification (COC) points for attendance at the National Safety Conference without pre-approval. The American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH) grants certification maintenance (CM) points.

Cancellation and Other Policies:
By registering for this meeting you signify that you have read, understand, and agree to abide by NPRA's policies on registration, housing, cancellation, spouse/guest registration, and fees.REGISTRATION POLICY: Those who are present at the site of an NPRA meeting and/or occupy a hotel room in the NPRA room block to conduct business with industry personnel gathered for that meeting are expected to register for that meeting and pay the registration fee, whether or not they attend a specific function.
FEE POLICY: Eligibility for member rates is based on membership information currently on file with NPRA. If your company is not currently a member, the non-member fees will be charged to your credit card.
SPOUSE/GUEST POLICY: A guest is a spouse/significant other, friend or an adult child (18 years old or older) who is not in an industry-related occupation. A co-worker, an associate or spouse who works within the industry may not use the Spouse/Guest Registration category. Guests are not permitted to work in an exhibit booth. Children under 18 are not permitted in the exhibit hall.
CANCELLATION POLICY: Registration substitution/cancellations may be made on-line, faxed to 202.835.0467 or e-mailed to NSC@npra.org. Substitute conference registrations may be made in advance or on arrival with no penalty. Cancellations may be made by April 8, 2008 with no penalty. Written cancellations postmarked, faxed, or emailed between April 9 and April 22, 2008 will receive a refund of fees, less a $50 processing fee. No refunds after April 22, 2008. No telephone cancellations.
TICKET AND EXHIBITOR ONE-DAY PASS REFUND POLICY: Refunds will be made on banquet tickets or exhibitor one-day passes purchased if request is received in writing by April 22, 2008. No refunds after April 22.
NO SUITCASING, PLEASE. Please note that while all meeting attendees are invited to the exhibition, any attendee who is observed to be soliciting business in the aisles or other public spaces, in another company's booth, or in violation of any portion of the NPRA Exhibition Policy will be asked to leave immediately. Please report any violations you may observe to show management.
ENTERTAINMENT POLICY: We ask your cooperation in observing Association policy on activities held in conjunction with any NPRA meeting:
* Meetings or social activities should not be scheduled that take registrants away from NPRA programs and NPRA-sponsored activities;
* Any company sponsoring a function to which 25 or more people are invited should outline its plans for advance approval by NPRA. In general, such functions will be approved if they do not unduly take registrants away from NPRA-sponsored activities;
* All representatives of companies sponsoring hospitality activities are expected to register for the meeting;
* Hospitality suites are expected to close by 1:00 a.m.;
* Food, beverage and service personnel (bartenders, hostesses, etc.) must be obtained through the hotel catering department;
* Suite promotional activities are to avoid the use of elaborate entertainment, expensive door prizes, suite attendance solicitation by individuals who are not full-time employees of the sponsoring company, or other similar activities.
