This paper will to discuss a software system (cNotes) for a documentation management system for written operations correspondence that has been in use at Lyondell-CITGO Refining LP’s Houston, Texas Refinery for more than two years. cNotes has drastically improved the effectiveness of all operations written correspondence at the Refinery by making this information available to all employees through a web-based system. cNotes also provides a framework to the operators to assist them in providing more complete and correct information. By helping all employees stay abreast of current plant operations, work efforts are better directed and decision making is improved which improves the plant’s overall productivity.
