Description:

As the environmental regulations and market demands continue to change throughout the world, the pressures on refining margins and process capabilities become even more strained. The particular impact on gasoline demand and regulations affects all processing units within a refinery. The CCR™ Platforming™ process unit has the unique ability to produce a wide range of products that enable today’s refiner to address many of these changing issues. However, because many of these units are currently operating at or above their design conditions, there is a need for an inexpensive and convenient way to increase operating flexibility. UOP has a portfolio of CCR Platforming catalysts that can provide additional flexibility. UOP also has the process and engineering expertise to review current and future unit operating conditions to ensure that refiners can achieve their processing objectives and realize the benefits from a catalyst reload. Only by combining a new catalyst with technical expertise, can the refiner realize the full benefits of future operations and increase profitability. This paper describes two commercial examples that illustrate how catalyst reloads can help achieve new process objectives. UOP’s newest CCR Platforming catalysts, the R-230™ series, are also introduced with case studies that show how the R-230 series catalysts can increase unit flexibility and profitability.
