Description:

TransPlus is ExxonMobil's new heavy aromatics transalkylation technology which was co-developed with and commercialized by the Chinese Petroleum Corporation of Taiwan. This technology offers refiners a low cost solution for upgrading heavy aromatics streams, alone or in conjunction with either toluene or benzene co-feed, to higher value mixed xylenes with either high purity benzene or toluene as a co-product. TransPlus utilizes a proprietary catalyst and has the advantages of lower capital and operating costs, as compared to competing technologies, due to improvements in operating conditions. TransPlus can effectively process feeds ranging from 100% C9+ aromatics to mixtures of C9+ aromatics with either toluene or benzene depending on the product slate desired. This flexibility allows producers to upgrade lower valued heavier aromatics to either benzene or toluene and mixed xylenes depending upon market conditions or product demand.
