Description:

As every refinery is different, each refiner will need individually tailored solutions to satisfy his immediate and longer-term sulfur requirements. It is useful to take advantage of a licensor's know-how in processing, reactor design, and catalysts as well as his experience with the many industrial situations already encountered to provide solutions to a given refinery problem. This article will review briefly some of the available options for attaining ultra-low sulfur diesel with a discussion on catalyst selection followed by a detailed presentation of the development of a new line of reactor internals. This development combined computational flow dynamics (CFD) with a large-scale mock-up system to arrive at a new benchmark design, EquiFlowTM, that ensures a most efficient reactor flow distribution and fluid mixing.
