Platforming™ technology has been studied and improved almost continually since its commercialization in 1949. New process, product and catalyst innovations that enable customers to improve operations are continually developed and delivered to the marketplace. As the recent examples covered in this paper demonstrate, these innovations can address issues as relatively straightforward as chloride management and catalyst cost/performance and as complex as a significant shift in refinery output. The examples also demonstrate the importance of interactions in processing, product and mechanical advances in the profitability of Platforming unit operations.
