Description:

Efforts to improve refinery profitability have resulted in directionally less crackable and more contaminated feed being run in Williams’ Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit (FCCU). Deteriorating crude quality, removal of light gas oil, taking advantage of opportunity crudes, and reprocessing internal recovered oil streams have all contributed to the decline in feed quality. In order for this feed to be successfully processed, state of the art hardware has been added, stream management has been scrutinized, and the catalyst system has been researched and modified. This paper explores the role of Akzo Nobel’s Accessibility Index in the management of FCCU metal contaminants.
