The projections and analysis in this paper are primarily from the Annual Energy Outlook 2001 (AEO2001), released in December 2000. This annual report is produced by the Energy Information Administration (EIA) of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and provides projections of U.S. energy demand, production, imports, prices, and energy-related carbon dioxide emissions through 2020. Additional projections are from EIA’s Short-Term Energy Outlook February 2001 (STEO), which is updated monthly and provides quarterly projections through the next two calendar years.
