Description:

The future reduction in transportation fuel sulfur levels will require changes to current methods of producing gasoline and diesel fuels. Accordingly, refiners must continue to evaluate their current operations and equipment in anticipation of future requirements with a focus on maximizing the return on existing assets. Return on assets (ROA) is an effective tool for evaluating possible changes and modifications to existing equipment. Hydrocracking has proven to be an effective process in the production of clean fuels, and new advances in hydrocracking technology can help refiners meet regulatory demands to reduce sulfur levels. This paper reviews recent technology innovations in UOP’s Unicracking process and provides examples of how Unicracking innovations and UOP’s application expertise are used to provide customized solutions that meet regulatory demands and maximize ROA under a variety of operating conditions.
