Description:

The benefits of FCC feedstock hydrotreatment are generally recognized in terms of FCC yield improvement and product quality. Based on the increasing environmental demands for cleaner fuels, even more attention is being focused on this topic due to the FCC’s central role in fuel production. Advanced Refining Technologies, a new JV company that combines the hydroprocessing catalyst technology of ChevronTexaco and Grace Davison, has been active in developing a deeper understanding of the relationships between FCC feed pretreatment and resulting yields and product quality. Some of the more important findings of this work have lead to the development of ART’s new APART™ catalyst system. The impact of APART technology on FCC performance, yields and product sulfur are the subject of this paper.
