Description:
Sulfur recovery units built or operated in the United States, must install a tail gas treatment unit (TGTU), in order to reduce sulfur emissions. Currently, Refinery MACT II requires that SO2 emissions from sulfur recovery units (in refineries) be kept below 250 ppm, corrected to 0% oxygen on a dry basis. This usually equates to an overall sulfur recovery/removal rate of 99.8%, or higher.
