This presentation will emphasize the importance of managing “stranded assets”--- people, processes, and non-instrumented equipment, with mobile workforce management and decision support software as a key enabler for improving plant reliability. Further, we will discuss several basic principles that need to be considered when implementing mobile computing technology and some of the human performance elements encountered when introducing integrated work processes and decision support software. Also, we will review the key Operational Performance Metrics that refineries and petrochemical facilities are achieving as a direct result of field workforce enablement with mobile technology and decision support software.
