Description:

The FCC unit at Mumbai Refinery, HPCL, India has a side by side Reactor - Regenerator of 20 KB/SD capacity. The key areas of constraints were catalyst circulation, Reactor stripper head, Orifice chamber, WGC and its downstream facilities. The revamp involving stripper internal modifications with elevated bed, catalyst transfer line aeration changes, redesign of orifice chamber, modifications in regenerator air grid, changes in fractionator internals & installation of high efficiency rotor bundle was carried out in 2005. These modifications which required low investment have unlocked the FCC potential by improving its throughput and yields. The low cost revamp amounting to 2 million US $ has helped boost FCC performance by generating 0.2 $/bbl with a payback of 5 months.
