Decreased gasoline sulfur levels have caused many refiners to look to the FCC feed pretreater for help. Oftentimes this means using a higher activity desulfurization catalyst which results in decreased nitrogen removal and decreased PNA saturation. While this helps reduce FCC gasoline sulfur, it has a negative impact on FCC conversion and gasoline yield. The ApART Catalyst System from Advanced Refining Technologies offers the opportunity to lower FCC gasoline sulfur levels and at the same time maintain or improve FCC feed upgrading. The ApART system is a staged catalyst system customized for individual refiner feed and conditions, with the right system able to deliver increased HDS activity without sacrificing nitrogen or PNA removal.
