Technology for online cleaning of process units has recently been developed by ITW and has already been put to service at various European refineries without having to shut down the unit. Equipment can therefore be cleaned online avoiding the need, for example, of opening a heat exchanger, fractionator, etc. The online cleaning technology has been positively proven in many severe applications, including online cleaning of visbreaker bottoms and fractionators with structured packing.
