Description:

The Atlantic Basin market addressed in this paper is defined as North America, the Caribbean, Central America, South America and all of Europe. The gasoline market includes ethanol, both that blended with refinery gasoline and neat ethanol fuel (Brazil) as well as E85. The Atlantic Basin gasoline market accounts for 65% of global gasoline demand. Over the past decade, the gasoline demand in the Atlantic Basin grew at 0.3% annually. Growth varied significantly within the region with relatively high growth in the developing Latin America region (including Mexico), more modest increases in the U.S. and Canada and a decline in gasoline demand in Europe. The decline in Europe resulted in surplus gasoline production, a large portion of which made its way westward to supply the expanding markets in the Americas.
