AM-12-59 Field Coaching Leads to Organization Effectiveness

This presentation describes an alternative approach currently working at the LyondellBasell Houston Refinery Organization (HRO). HRO is in the process of changing their practices and culture – from PSM, to union relationships, to conducting the daily business. New work processes are being implemented and supporting organizations are being changed to enable the fundamental philosophy of supporting the front line (operators and crafts) in their daily work of achieving excellence. However, the approach incorporates one additional activity – field coaching. Coaching has effectively enhanced the performance of business executives for years. When applied to the front line supervision, refinery supervision, and refinery leadership – in the field ‐ it dramatically improves individual performance and expedites the cultural changes necessary for improved business results.
