This paper discusses a number of strategies that a US refinery can implement to increase their overall product selectivity to middle distillates. Specific examples regarding the conversion of FCC pre-treating to mild hydrocracking, full conversion of VGO to middle distillates with increased selectivity to diesel, and the recent addition of new residue hydrocrackers to maximize diesel production are discussed.
