Description:

Distillation has long been the industry’s primary method for hydrocarbon separation. It is normally very energy intensive and thermodynamically inefficient. The inherent inefficiency is evident by the normal design requirement to arrange multiple sequential distillation columns to deliver the required products. Dividing Wall Columns (DWCs) offer alternative, efficient solutions to satisfy selective separation demands in the system. For a given separation task, new columns can be designed with reduced investment cost while existing columns can be revamped to offer increased throughput at lower specific energy consumption.
