Description:

Air Products and Technip recognize that 21st century refiners face challenges to improve the cost-effectiveness (unit cost of hydrogen) and reliability of refinery hydrogen through advanced refinery hydrogen network management, enhanced energy efficiency, creative revamping of existing hydrogen plants and providing economies of scale in steam methane reformer (SMR) based hydrogen production. In this paper [1] we tackle other major challenges including: wide SMR feedstock flexibility and composition variability; integrating hydrogen production with steam and power synergy thereby lowering the overall carbon footprint; carbon dioxide capture from SMRs; and managing the challenges of water scarcity and quality issues.
