This paper focuses on the continuing role of the reforming unit in the reformulated gasoline (RFG) refinery by evaluating the processing options available for producing RFG and quantifying the benefits of the various options to the refiners. It introduces hvo new facets of the CCR Platforming* process: a low-pressure, low-severity (LPLS) CCR’ unit and UOP’s newest CCR Platforming catalyst, R-132.* Both low-pressure reforming operations and the latest in catalyst technology are required to meet the challenges of RFG.
