Description:

This presentation describes a series of field measurements of NOx emissions from burning natural gas and PSA purge gas in operating reformer furnaces and the development of a theoretically based correlation of NOx with fuel gas composition and furnace conditions (excess air and air preheat); such knowledge is necessary to select the proper NOx control technique. The data and correlation are compared with available published information, including EPA Publication AP-42 natural-gas boiler NOx emission factors, which are judged to be overly conservative for the reformer conditions tested.
