Description:

The growing need for oxygenates calls for new routes for isobutylene and isoamylene production. Skeletal isomerization of linear butenes and pentenes is a promising solution for substantially increasing MTBE and TAME production from either FCC or steam-cracking C4 and C5 streams. IFP describes two Skeletal Isomerization Processes, ISO- and ISO-5, that are part of a total package of available IFP etherification technology. These processes employ IFP’s commercially proven continuous catalyst regeneration technology. Operating conditions have been selected that minimize oligomerization and cracking reactions. Economic data for IFP’s ISO- and ISO- Skeletal Isomerization Processes are presented and discussed in this paper.
