Description:

An improved process for the separation of the C5/C(j normal and isomeric paraffins is presented in this paper. When used in conjunction with an isomerization reaction system, the complete conversion of the C5/C6 streams to isomers can be achieved obtaining up to 92 RON Clear product to gasoline blending. This patented process developed by IFP has two versions trademarked IPSORB and HEXORB. Either version can also be used in a stand-alone iso/normal separation scheme without isomerization; but their most ideal application is for the “add-on” revamping of existing once-thru isomerization units. Tailored to octane needs, the IPSORB Isomerization attains up to 90 RONC while the more performant HEXORB version goes all the way to 92 RONC. At 5000 BPD feed capacity operating costs range from 1.60 to 2.30 $ / BBL for complete IPSORB and HEXORB isomerization processes respectively.
