Sweden requires the production of a city diesel fuel that contains 5 percent aromatics and 10 ppm sulfur. The 200,000 B/D Scanraff refinery has studied the various means of producing city diesel and have selected the SynSat process. SynSat is a low pressure process jointly licensed by ABB Lummus Crest Inc. and Criterion Catalyst Company L.P. The process will be applied as a revamp to an existing hydrotreater. The joint Scanraff/ Lummus/Criterion paper discusses this project.
