The use of vanadium traps in Fluid Cracking Catalysts (FCC) has found widespread acceptance in the refinery world over the last decade. [‘I In general, however, vanadium traps were considered to be important for applications with major contributions of resid to the FCC feed. We have always maintained that a good and efficient vanadium trap should be effective at considerably lower vanadium levels, too. In this paper. we present a novel technology which traps and passivates vanadium at levels of 1500 ppm and above.
