The 1990 Clean Air Act outlined PERFORMANCES TANDARDG oals for Reformulated Gasoline, Beginning in iJ95, Reformulated Gasoline (RFG) will deliver a >15% reduction in summertime hydrocarbon emissions and in five specific air toxics while producing no NOx increase. Through the regulatory-negotiation process, the fuel, regulatory and public 'community' agreed to attain these goals by constructing )I Fuel ---> Emissions U Models. These models provide some flexibility in manufacturing via tailoring RFG fuel parameters while assuring that RFG attains the environmental performance standards.
