Description:

The principle of incorporating a bottoms cracking component in the form of a solid particle additive to an otherwise limited host catalyst has formerly been studied and proven feasible in the laboratory. The soundness of this concept has now been firmly demonstrated on a commercial scale. In a four-month trial, at an additive concentration of less than one-tenth of the total catalyst inventory, total heavy fuel yields were reduced on average by over one-third with little appreciable increase in either coke or dry gas production. Simultaneous increases in transportation fuels and light products were observed with no significant changes noted in the quality of the product streams.
