Description:

Alkylation has long been recognized in the refining industry as one of the best options to convert refinery olefms into valuable, clean, high octane blending components. In fact, refinery alkylation is a preferred source of blending stocks for reformulated gasoline. However, the hydrofluoric acid (HP) alkylation process and, to a lesser extent, the sulfuric acid (SA) process have come under 0 increasing pressure in the U.S. due to safety and environmental concerns. This paper examines the current outlook for the U.S. alkylation industry.
