Description:

Split Feed Injection (SFI) is Chevron’s patented technology1 for increasing the flexibility of fluid catalytic cracking units. The process improvement, which requires a relatively simple, low-cost hardware modification, results in conversion of a portion of the gasoline into lighter products (primarily olefins), and higher gasoline research and motor octanes. The technology has been extensively tested in Chevron Research & Technology Company’s pilot plants, and in two commercial FCC units; additional commercial tests are planned.
