The Technical Committee of Petroleum Additive Manufacturers in Europe (ATC) has carried out an analysis of the size and nature of the automotive fuel additives market in the I9 countries of OECD Europe. The objective of the study was to collect and assess available information, and to put in perspective the benefits which fuel additives provide to both man and the environment. This presentation describes the chemistry and functions of fuel additives. and the role they play in meeting developing transportation needs. Also assessed are their relative hazard and their environmental fate, and how this is more than outweighed by a range of environmental benefits.
