Description:

Reformate Upgrading is a new catalyst system that increases the yield of BTX from fixed-bed naphtha reformers servicing aromatics plants. Yields of non-aromatic products in the gasoline boiling range are reduced thereby benefiting operation of aromatics recovery equipment located downstream. The Reformate Upgrading process is easily implemented by replacing a portion of existing reforming catalyst with new Mobil proprietary catalyst in the-same reactor vessel. Reforming operations including regeneration are unaffected. The technology will be installed in the Mobil Chalmette Refinery in March 1997. This paper will discuss the catalyst and process development effort, process performance issues, and economic impact.
