Description:

Topsoe has supplied catalysts and process design including steam reformer design for more than 40 years. During the 1980’ies new technologies including prereforming and advanced steam reformer design allowing very high outlet temperature were developed and demonstrated in pilot facilities in Houston, and today both hydrogen plants and synthesis gas plants based on this technology are operating in Europe and the Far East. Furthermore, a new generation of burners for autothermal reformers and oxygen-fired secondary reformers was developed and commercialized in some of the world’s largest synthesis gas plants with single line capacities corresponding to more than 200 MM SCFD of hydrogen. These advanced technologies allow large-scale production of hydrogen at very competitive costs, and the flexibility inherent in the technologies ensures that the most economic concept will be chosen for each case considering parameters such as plant capacity, feedstock( and cost of feed, fire1 and utilities.
