Description:

Specifications for improving diesel fuel quality by reducing engine emissions have been implemented in the 1990s and further tightening of specifications is proposed for a number of markets throughout the world. As a result of increased relative demands for kerosene and diesel and more-stringent diesel specifications, refiners are having difficulty meeting standards for distillate quantity and quality. Various combinations of desulfurization, aromatics saturation, catalytic dewaxing, and selective cracking reactions are needed to economically achieve these specifications.
