Description:

Since its inception in 1942, fluid catalytic cracking has been the economic dynamo of the refinery. The relatively large size of the process (about 30 – 33% of the crude capacity), and the fact that it is converting low valued black oil to much more valuable transportation fuels gives the FCC process its economic predominance. It is no wonder that catalytic cracking has received continuing attention from oil companies, engineering firms and chemical and equipment suppliers, which keeps the process current.
