Description:

Operationally, afterburning reactions in FCC regenerators receive “attention” more often than they merit. Different refiners have different “comfort zones” regarding an acceptable level of afterburning. There are many factors that contribute to the severity of afterburning. These factors include feedstock quality, catalyst properties, operating conditions and the mechanical design of the FCC unit. In this presentation, we will explore the fundamentals of catalyst regeneration, the impact of afterburning on unit operations/environmental emissions, and provide some tools to troubleshoot excessive afterburning.
