Cat crackers are still one of the main revenue generators in the refinery, but cat cracker turnarounds are significant financial and resource draining events. Extending turnaround interval is one way to lessen their impact, however there are barriers to overcome. One barrier could be determining the point when the negative effects of reduced reliability and/or longer TA durations will outstrip the positive effects of longer run length.
