Description:

In this work we will study multivariable and closed-loop identification of large scale industrial processes for use in model predictive control (MPC). Closed-loop identification will be motivated and related problems of identification will be outlined. Then, asymptotic method (ASYM) of identification is introduced that solve industrial identification problems systematically. The advantages of new technology are 1) improved model quality, 2) reduced time for plant test and data analysis, 3) reduced disturbance to unit operation during plant test, and 4) user friendliness. To demonstrate the use of the method, the identification of a deethanizer for use in MPC will be presented.
