Models are often “siloed” in separate groups, making it impossible to run the business holistically. This paper discusses a refinery-wide rigorous simulation solution that promotes model re-use and deployment across the many groups in the refinery, and allows refiners to run operations holistically. This solution facilitates the transfer of data across the refinery, making models accessible to many interdepartmental groups in order to provide an accurate, consistent basis for economic decisions in the refinery. The increased process understanding will deliver bottom line benefits to the refiner.
