This paper describes the implementation of Real Time Optimization (RTO) at the Hyundai Petrochemicals Olefins complex in Daesan, Korea. The applications include a system for a new grassroots Ethylene plant and a system for a new Gasoline Hydrotreating and Benzene Recovery Unit (GHU/BRU). Both systems use rigorous, first-principle, openequation based models and include all of the processes of the respective units.
