Description:

BP Oil’s global refinery managers network commissioned a task force to generate a vision for optimizing commercial refining over the next ten years, i.e., how should BP utilize existing and developing refining systems technologies for optimal commercial impact. Technologies included planning and scheduling, simulation, advanced control and others. Human resource and business process issues were also considered. The task force consisted of BP technology experts worldwide who combined their own knowledge and ideas with contributions from a number of leading vendors. This paper will describe how BP went about this process and highlight some of the general findings and actions to-date that have resulted from this activity.
