Description:

In today’s economic environment, managing Refinery Process Information and Accounting for Plant Operations are extremely important activities. Few will argue this statement, but many will discuss at great length and frequently disagree on the details of why these activities are important and how they should be accomplished. My purpose today is not to present my arguments of why and how, but relate Mapco’s recent experience in successfully replacing legacy applications for handling plant operating data, and yield accounting. We hesitate to say that we were managing the process data or using the data to make decisions with the legacy application. This experience reinforced my belief that managing Refinery Process Information and Accounting for Plant Operations should be viewed as a whole in planning an implementation.
