Description:

This paper describes a new method of scheduling which is used at the OMV Schwechat refinery. This scheduling system is designed as a Dynamic Programming Extension to a Linear Program using mixed integer features to optimize the unit and tank allocation times in order to meet the targets as they are optimized by a static planning system. The main goal is to close the gap between commonly used static planning tools and the dynamic reality in the refinery to reach the calculated profits from the longer term plan by optimized unit and tank operations. The system solves the scheduling problem as a dynamic optimization in simultaneous mode.
